The purpose of this research project is to understand the relationship between workplace training and onboarding at the time of hire, and the experience of job burnout within the first three years of employment.  

This is a research project being conducted by Michaela Keating and Ilda Cardenas at California State University Fullerton. The results of this study will be used for scholarly purposes only. You will not receive money or any other compensation for taking part in this study. 

Your participation in this research study is voluntary. There will be no penalty if you choose not to participate. If you decide to participate in this research survey, you may choose not to answer specific questions or stop participating at any time. There are no risks and no direct benefits for being involved in this study. Your experience is valuable to our study, and the results of will be used used to report information that administrators can use to increase retention and work satisfaction among newly hired librarians. 

This online survey should take approximately 5-7 minutes. You will be asked to answer multiple-choice questions about the length of time in the library profession, if you received training or onboarding when starting your most recent position, if you experience any symptoms of workplace burnout, and the frequency with which those experiences have occurred. 

The data for this study will be kept confidential to the extent allowed by law. No published results will identify you, and your name will not be associated with the findings. The results of the study may be published or presented at professional meetings, but the identities of participants will not be included. We will not collect identifying information such as your name, email address, or IP address. The data for this study will be kept indefinitely, but will only be used for future education, presentations, or publications.
