Study Title: Asexual Minority Stress Scale: Construction and Validation

You are being asked to take part in a research study carried out by Julien Rouvere, a graduate student at California State University, Fullerton, under the advisement of Dr. Kathleen Preston. Please read this form carefully and ask the researcher to explain anything you don’t understand. This study is confidential, and your participation is voluntary.
This research study is being conducted to develop a measurement of factors related to discrimination for the asexual population. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. The online questionnaire should take approximately 45 minutes to complete. You will answer questions about discrimination, minority stress, coping factors, and protective factors.
Questions regarding the purpose or procedures of the research should be directed to Julien Rouvere at rouvere@csu.fullerton.edu. The IRB, a university committee established by Federal law, is responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of research participants. If you have concerns or questions about your rights as a research participant, you may contact the IRB at 657-278-7719 or irb@fullerton.edu. The IRB number for this research is HSR-20-21-409.
Are there any costs, payments, benefits, or risks to me?
Participants who complete the questionnaire in full will be entered into a raffle for a $25 Amazon gift card. There is no cost to participate. Participants will contribute to the literature and knowledge of asexual studies and play an important role in the construction of the scale. There are no foreseeable risks from taking part in this study.
Will my information be kept anonymous or confidential?
Data for this study will be kept confidential to the extent allowed by law. No published results will identify you, and your name will not be associated with the findings. The results of this study may be published or presented at professional meetings, but the identities of all research participants will remain anonymous. The email address provided for the opportunity drawing will not be tied to your data, which will remain anonymous and confidential.
