Overview:
You are being asked to take part in a research study carried out by Gabriella Motlagh. This consent form explains the research study and your part in it if you decide to join the study. Please read the form carefully, taking as much time as you need. Ask the researcher to explain anything you don’t understand. You can decide not to join the study. If you join the study, you can change your mind later and leave the study at any time. There will be no penalty or loss of services or benefits if you decide to not take part in the study.

Procedure:
This research study is being conducted to determine mock juror perception of Perkins Operations. Taking part in the study will take about 30 minutes. You can take part in this study if you are 18 years of age or older, do not have a federal criminal record within the last three years, are an English speaker, never convicted of a felony [unless civil rights have been restored], not currently to be subject to felony charges punishable by imprisonment for more than one year, have no disqualifying mental or physical condition, and are a citizen of the US. If you take part in the study, you will be asked to read a script of an interrogation. Afterwards, you will be asked a series of questions about the script and the events taking place. You will be asked what your opinions of these events are.

Confidentiality:
The data for this study will be collected confidentially. Neither the researcher(s) nor anyone else will be able to link data to you. Data will be coded to maintain confidentiality and accessed only by the researchers. The results of this study may be published or presented at professional meetings, but the identities of all research participants will remain confidential. The raw data for this study will be kept for 10 years. There will be no costs to you for taking part in this study.
