Welcome to the CSUF History Department's Careers in History Webinar - Museums and History Centers
Please click on the embedded video above to begin this recorded career webinar.
It is not surprising that this particular session on careers for historians in museums and history centers went somewhat over the usual 90 minutes. The four panelists are all CSUF alumni, and in one case even a current student, whose stories about work in local museums, state parks, oral history collections and community centers highlight beautifully how the learning goals of the M.A. and the B.A. lead to meaningful careers. The panelists were chockfull with good advice and recommendations for current students, and I dare any current history major or M.A. student not to get a little bit jealous at the exciting daily activities these panelists are engaged in: From blacksmithing to budgeting, from meeting with city councils to creating interactive historical maps, from assessing the market and the competition to building deep and lasting connections with community members – these alumni do it all. And with the preparation you receive at CSUF, you can build your own career that may just look just like theirs.
